DNCC Tickets wraps Obama in upside-down flag
Anyone with a basic knowledge of flag etiquette is aware that displaying a flag upside-down is never appropriate. The one exception to this rule is if one is in dire circumstances and must summons help an inverted flag may be flown. This is allowed only when there is no other method of notification available.
Those who were fortunate enough to receive community credentials to Senator Obama's acceptance speech at Invesco field, will notice that Obama is pictured with an inverted flag.
There is one other example we know of where this same motif was used, John Kerry's book called, "Vietnam Veterans Against the War" The New Soldier. A very close resemblance indeed.
Maybe the DNCC has kept track of the polling this summer and figures the Democratic nominee is officially in distress. That’s the only explanation for a silly gaffe by the convention committee for the graphics on their credentials for those allowed to see Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at Invesco Field. The holographic image uses an American flag motif with the blue field at the bottom, with Obama’s head emerging from it in one of the two alternating images (via the Weasel Zippers):
The viewers say with the stars and blue field in the lower left corner, it looks like an upside down American flag. Published flag etiquette states the stars should always be displayed in the upper left corner. An upside down flag represents an international symbol of extreme distress.
Matt Chandler with the Obama campaign says the flag is not upside down. He says it is a stylized flag designed to blend the stars on Senator Obama’s shirt with the flag blowing in the wind.
Yes — a flag blowing upside-down. The DNCC would not even admit they used a flag:
“The DNCC community credentials incorporate patriotic design elements. They do not depict an actual American flag. The DNCC has full and complete respect for the flag and all rules of display.”
Take a look at the picture and see for yourself whether this depicts an American flag. Blue field …. check. Stars …. check. Alternating white and red stripes …. check. Looks like the flag to me. Maybe the DNCC isn’t familiar with Old Glory.

politisite, I like this story. It's good stuff. The printer must be a McCain supporter, that is all I can say!

I do not think they would hire a McCain supporter. Obama probably ordered it that way to tell his fellow revolutionaries "Our time has come".

Well, Politisite, if the upside down flag really is some kind of signal that Senator Obama is definitely against Vietnam-type military engagements, I must confess you have just made me like him a lot better!

Please!! Can we all wake up to the forces that try to manipulate us from the real issues our families face! My family cannot afford health care, my employee cut benefits and I have no 401K. Do you think what is on this ticket or how a flag is displayed will help my family or other families?? 47 million of us without health care. Is health care a right or only for those that can pay?? If so maybe when people call 911 - they should first take a credit card number before sending help?? That would be consistent with our "free" market and healthcare for only those who can afford it. American families need help and this trickle down theory from Bush and McCain does not work!! Does anyone really care about the real issues any more or are we all running around a sinking ship fighting over the color of the draps in the stateroom?? Oh please wake up!!
