Dog play areas in Dublin, Ireland

Following success of the trial of a dedicated dog area in Marlay Park in Dublin, Ireland the City Councils are planning to build a number of play areas in other parks, subject to budgetary analysis.

Dog areas are a feature in many cities across Europe where owners can bring their dogs for ‘off-lead’ activity. Dogs can interact and burn off excess energy in a more natural environment than being walked on-lead through busy streets with noisy traffic etc.

It is seen to be very beneficial for the domestic pet to mix with and enjoy the company of their canine friends while it also gives their owners a chance to take it easy with their colleagues while the dogs get plenty of exercise – everyone’s  a winner !
