DOJ: Taxpayers will pay for Gonzales' private attorney in prosecutor firing scandal
Attorney General Michael Mukasey's Department of Justice says it will pay for Alberto Gonzales to have a private attorney, at up to twice the cost of a DOJ attorney, defend him in a lawsuit related to the DOJ prosecutors who were allegedly fired for not conducting Bush Administration desired partisan politically-motivated prosecutions, or for refusing to back off prosecution of Republican corruption. The DOJ wouldn't comment on whether any of the other defendants named in the suit would also have private attorneys paid for by the DOJ. Mukasey admits there was a "systemic" hiring problem in the department and claims he's put a stop to it, but has ruled out holding any of the people accountable named in watchdog reports.
The Justice Department has agreed to pay for a private lawyer to defend former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales against allegations that he encouraged officials to inject partisan politics into the department's hiring and firing practices.
This, on top of 9/11, Iraq War lies, torture, warrantless wiretapping, the Wall Street Bailout, etc., etc.
Clinton gave Bush a $236 billion surplus and they're giving Obama a $400 billion deficit, on top of bailing out their crony capitalist corporate criminal buddies, dumping their economic meltdown on the taxpayers to the tune of well over a $1 trillion when you include Bear Stearns and the others. And don't forget about the multi-trillion $ future costs of the conflict/occupation in Iraq.
Tell the Obama transition team what he needs to get done in the next 2 years, if the Dems are going to hold on to Congress. We the People have the web; there is no good reason to vote for Republocrats anymore, when we can find out the facts on eveyrone running, and communicate and organize with 4 out of 5 US adults- and the entire world.
