This is another example of the debate of sterilizing stupid people and those who do not have the mental or human capacity to have children or be parents. I have a four year old son, and I can't imagine doing something like that to a sweet innocent soul, and it angers me that these children will suffer long lasting damage because of these monsters.
What was the pleasure these animals got from this? Power? Sadism? Just plain EVIL? The fact that multiple adults could come together with the same mentality to brutalize innocent children who have no power to help themselves is abominable. Sociopaths travel in packs and hang together like magnets.
Jennifer Leonard and Melissa Chandler, there is not enough punishment that you can suffer for what you have done to ruin two lives. The circle of ignorance and abuse will continue because of your despicable actions.
I can't wait to find out what their sentence will be. It is times like this I wish I was a judge. I'd be the most feared judge around and I wouldn't fathom giving a break to human garbage.
KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) - Kokomo police made a disturbing discovery Monday afternoon.
An officer found two young children in a home, both beaten and starved.
Police came to the house on an unrelated call, but what they found made even a veteran officer tearful.
"There's no way anybody could look at these children and not feel their pain, I think being a parent makes that harder, but there's nobody that wouldn't feel that," said Lt. Don Whitehead of the Kokomo Police Department.
Officers said the girl's abuse is worse. She is suffering from multiple fractures, all at different stages of healing. Police said the children were tied up with strips of towels and zip ties and deprived of food. The little girl was locked in the closet for 3 weeks.
"I think the way she was being treated, and what we've learned since then about their treatment, she would not have survived," said Lt. Whitehead.
Both children were immediately taken to St. Joseph Hospital. Officers say physically their wounds will heal, emotionally though, they may never.
A woman that lived right next door to the home told 24-Hour News 8 she didn't even know there were children in the home.
Bridget Cordero said, "I always thought they were weird because they had trash bags over their windows, and I've never seen their kids, ever."
Police arrested the mothers of both children, Jennifer Leonard and Melissa Chandler. Both are charged with two felonies.
Police also arrested another couple living in the home, Donald and Madeline Hawk are both charged with a felony.
