* Don't Try to Save the LTTE - White House Urged
Saturday, May 9, 2009, 5:20 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

A group of almost 3700 Sri Lankans living in various parts of the world urged the United States to support the Sri Lankan government's fight against LTTE terrorism.

In a petition addressed to the US President Barack Obama and the Secretary of State Mrs Hillary Clinton, the 3700 signatories requested the US administration to:

  • provide unequivocal support to Sri Lankan government to fight the war against LTTE terrorism;
  • appeal to the Tamil Diaspora living in the US to influence LTTE not to prevent safe passage of civilians from the no - fire zone and to convince the LTTE to renounce terrorism;
  • not to negotiate or encourage any attempts to save the LTTE terrorism from extinction, especially not to negotiate escape mechanisms for LTTE leaders, which would result in more deaths and agony for hundreds and thousands of Sri Lankans of both present and future generations.

Although both side hurl accusations at each other, the types of demonstrations we have seen are vastly different from each other. The pro Government rallies (are not demonstrations) and other events such as handing over petitions, letters have been peaceful.

On the other hand, the pro-LTTE (Ealam) rallies turn into being demonstrations and since of late, terminates with violence of some sort. The attack on the Indian High Commission in London, where the statue of Shri Jawaharlal Nehru was beheaded, and the attacks on the Chinese Embassy in London and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oslo are prime examples.

Only time will tell whether the pro -LTTE/Eelam demonstrations or rallies as they call them will continue their spate of violence aimed at the sovereignty other countries.

D.B.S. Jeyaraj, A Tamil writer in Canada says,

Need for oxygen

It was felt that only high-level pressure exerted by the international community could compel Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to call off the offensive and enter into negotiations with the LTTE. The Tigers gasping for breath needed oxygen.

For this task, the LTTE hierarchy thought that the Tamil diaspora would be the trump card. Sections of the diaspora in Western countries would mount pressure on their respective governments and make them pressure Colombo. The Tiger lobby in Tamil Nadu was expected to do the same in India.

An international campaign focussing on the plight of Tamil civilians in Tiger-controlled territory was to be orchestrated. Charges of genocide were raised. The objective was to use the civilians’ plight to pressure the international community into fulfilling its responsibility to protect civilians.

You are misleading the news.

The white house did not say anything to the effect, but you are quoting them as such.

Sri Lankan propaganda is taken to the next level, now even falsely quoting US to support the killing and oppression of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Remember a petition signed with the Sinhalese extremists' wishes don't make them white house's requests.

If that is the case, in the thousands of petitions signed to many governments all over the world, Tamils would have already achieved Tamils' autonomy - Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka.

Do you mean 'White House Urged not to try to save the LTTE' - knowing not that much about this subject, I was just a little confused by your headline.

If this is true. Then I am 100% sure that none of these 3700 people ever lived in the north and east. Ask any Tamils from north and east. Not all of them like the way LTTE handling the problem. But ALL Tamils from north and east HATE the Sri Lankan government and the Army just for one reason. They can't see the difference between a civilians and a rebel. To kill a rebel they won't mind killing 100 civilians. That's what happening now in the so called "Safe-Zone".

This video will clear some issues: Prof Francis Boyle, University of Illinois College of Law. Boyle is telling the truth.

"...But ALL Tamils from north and east HATE the Sri Lankan government and the Army just for one reason.."

Tsk..tsk. If you google the key word  "hallucination ", you will understand this phenomenon. But don't worry - this is the situation in which all the diaspora LTTE supporters are in and will go away with the disappearance of LTTE from the face of this earth.

Barring a few of LTTE plants and sympathisers , no other civilian see the SLA like this anymore, as they are seeing how SLA troops risk their life to save the civilians from the terrorist LTTEs.

Wish you all a speedy recovery.

Boyle is a LTTE paid lawyer. He can say anything. Who cares what he says. He know what LTTE tells him. He should be arrested for providing legal support to promote terrorism. If all Tamils in North hate SL Government , why did they come to Government areas?

Normally, petitions forwarded by terrorist supporters are not entertained by anyone.

No Eelam in Sri Lanka!  Never!!

I'm missing this part about:

"The white house did not say anything to the effect, but you are quoting them as such."

under the name of so called war against terrorism , muslim blood has been sheded in Iraq, Afganistan and Pakistan. Over thousands and thousands muslim civilians are dead. World was silent. So now only 100,000 something tamil  ppl are trapped and 5000 tamil ppl are dead . Comparing to Musilms civilians death this is just nothing.  So if the world support the war against terro it should support the  Sri Lankan's army fighting against LTTE also.  We support the sri lankan gov ,  LTTE OR TERROISM SHOULD BE WIPED OUT.
