Between 1:43 PM and 2:55 PM today there was a reverse course in reporting by the Washington Post. Minerals Management Service reportedly stopped issuing drilling permits in shallow waters. Then, a little more than an hour later, the Obama Administration extended the freeze to shallow waters, in addition to deep water drilling.
What makes the difference? We’re in awash with oil in the Gulf now anyway. Well, perhaps, we can prevent any further recklessness by stopping the offshore drilling, period. We should put our energy into fossil fuel alternatives. We should be figuring out how to store and dispose of nuclear waste because nuclear is coming on strong and fast.
What does “double-ducking” mean?
Once upon a time I lived on a lagoon. I had a nosy neighbor. She was always watching and listening to our conversations. I said to m daughter, “Look, there goes a double duck with four legs.”
The lady next door shouted, “Yes, I can see it. A duck has four legs.”
I called to her, “It is called a double duck!”
Thereafter, I could hear her tell visiting guests, “There is a double-duck in the lagoon.” Not the truth that was reported.
