FORT ORD, CA -- Inside the stockade at the abandoned Fort Ord Army base. This is one of the only two solitary confinement cells built in 1953 as part of the original stockade. They have two cells doors to guard the most nefarious of prisoners. On a previous exploration to the stockade, I had almost locked myself into the middle area of this cell! In 1971, the stockade added on a new solitary confinement cell block with capacity for over 25 inmates in much larger cells with windows. These dungeonous cells were probably still used for the really bad folks from time to time.
