Just a reminder that alcohol, Xanax, text messaging, and other drugs don't mix with operation of a motor vehicle.  Some moron was indicted recently for killing a teen riding a bicycle for just such a deadly combination.  Just another reminder from your friendly neighborhood panzerlawyerman.  Ooohra.

According to reports by Los Angeles bicycle accident attorneys, Jeffery Francis Woods has been indicted by a grand jury on felony charges after an August 29, 2007 accident when Daniel Oates was struck and killed in a bicycle accident DUI. November 10th the grand jury indicted Woods of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and driving under the influence.

Woods age 21 was allegedly sending text messages and driving under the influence of Vicodin and Xanax when the pickup truck he was driving swerved across several lanes of traffic on Indianapolis Avenue. This is when he struck the bicycle Daniel Oates age 14 was riding and Oates was thrown approximately 150 feet. Oates was fatally injured and Woods truck then crashed through a wall and into the back yard of a home.

Woods was due to appear at the Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana today, November 19th.
