Nagaon(Assam),India : 26th June 2009 : India is a country which is
largely dependent on agriculture. It can be said that agriculture is
the backbone of Indian economy. And Indian agriculture is weather
dependent. This season is the main season for cultivation of Paddy
crops. In Assam, the government has taken speacial measures to develop
the agricultural production. But due to the lack of sufficient
quantity of rain, the farmers are facing problems for cultivation of
paddy. The decrease of rain in comparsion to the last year is about 15%
to 20%. The agricultural fields have become dry due to drought. It has
become difficult for the farmers to plough their fields. The paddy
seedings have become yellow due to lack of water and it is sure that
this weather problem will definately create a major problem for the
farmers this year. The farmers of Assam are still using ancient way of
ploughing their fields with the help of bullocks. And this way of
cultivation is hampering the farmers in the way as it is hard to
plough a huge amount of dry area in a short period.
