A Dutch lady, on a world peace mission, is walking for the cause in various countries. She was in Pakistan for the past 20 days, visiting the northern mountaineous areas, which she thoroughly enjoyed and was not only awed by the high mountains but also found that it was safe to travel in Pakistan, where people were extremely hospitable to her.She had covered about 1,000 kms in Pakistan.

Iftikhar A Khan reports in daily Dawn: "Britt Das, a Dutch lady on a global peace walk, on Friday termed Pakistan a safe as well as enchanting destination for tourists, as she arrived in Islamabad after concluding her trip to the country’s Northern Areas.

Das, who also writes for a Dutch newspaper, said she wanted to show a different side of Pakistan to the people, who had wrong impression about the country.

“I never felt any threat during my stay in Pakistan and it was really an exciting experience,” she told a press conference. Prominent mountaineer Nazir Sabir was also present on the occasion.

About her meetings with the locals, who came across her during her journey inside Pakistan, she said the people wanted peace and education. She stressed that education was vital to create awareness among the people.

She said she started her journey for peace on foot beginning in the Netherlands in August last year walking across Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, part of Badakshan in Afghanistan, Nepal and China."

Call me the skeptic in the room but shouldn't a "peace traveler" be going to the non peaceful areas of Pakistan to spread "peace?" Pakistan is a disaster because of radical Islamic murderers who this woman smartly avoided during her "vacation"...Those fighting the Islamic murderers are the ones who are the real "peace travelers" in my humble opinion...

this piece of news only proves the point that the entire country is not a 'disaster' area. yes there are problems in some parts in the north but all pakistanis are not radical extremists. this country, perhaps just as yours, has a mix of many cultures and traditions, hospitality being a common tradition. my i extend an invitation to you to come and experience it yourself.

I would love to visit Pakistan. It is a shame that Pakistan has become refuge to the worst elements of radical Islam who are supported by millions there...
