Dwight Clark, the Missing Western Washington University Student, Has Been Found Dead Near Former Georgia-Pacific Log Pond

Dwight Clark's body was found just before 12:30 pm on Wednesday and his driver license was found in his pocket according to the Bellingham Herald. The exact cause of death has not been released, but an autopsy has been planned for Thursday.

Dwight Clark has been missing since leaving a party on September 26 around 2 am, and officials say the 18-year-olds body has been in the water for a few days.

Pennie Saum, a friend of the family, spoke to the local paper about the tragic news.

"You raise your son up to go to college and six days later he's gone," Saum said. "It's hard on all of us. We're not going to give up. We will find out someone who knows something and get this resolved."

Before his body was discovered, friends and family had put up fliers about the missing student and had offered over $20,000 for any news about his disappearance.

Police knew that a blank text message had been sent from Clark's phone around 2:40 am on Sunday, but there was no sign of him after that. A worker on the dock spotted the body on Wednesday morning, even though the area had been searched before. Officials think Clark's body may have floated there from another location.

The community is in shock at the news and students at WWU were notified of the discovery by a mass e-mail on Wednesday.
