This eagle head used to be on the top of the airport, and was removed in 1962.

Since the airport was in part designed to Adolf Hitler's specifications (He wanted a place where air shows could be held and up to a million people could watch from - hense the tiered roof for spectator stands) the German Eagle of the third reich was perched atop the building.

June 15, 2008 - A tour of Airport Templehof, which is scheduled to close in fall of 2008.
