A bus crash in the early hours of the morning in Texas, north of Dallas, has killed 13 people. 55 people were on the bus, which was going from Houston to Missouri.

A bus crash in northern Texas killed at least 12 people Friday, a police spokesman said.

The bus was going north on U.S. 75 when it left the highway, went off a bridge and down an embankment about 12:45 a.m. CT (1:45 a.m. ET), said Lt. Robert Fair, spokesman for the Sherman Police Department in Sherman, Texas.

Fifty-five people were on board the bus, which was traveling from Houston to a destination in Missouri, he said. Helicopters and ambulances were taking numerous injured passengers to hospitals, he said.

The bus crashed about 60 miles north of Dallas -- about half a mile north of the intersection of U.S. 75 and a road known as FM 1417.

Investigators found a blown tire on the bridge, but its significance was not immediately known, he said.

Another major crash happened west of Denver area today too shutting down I70.  The cause a blown tire.  I hope there is not a rash of blown tire accidents due to someone telling everyone to up the pressure in their tires to save on gas.  It should have been noted to never exceed the limits stamped on the wall of the tire.
