Eastern Nepal faces petroleum shortage

Eastern Nepal is in severe shortage of Petroleum products after peroleum dealers went on a strike to against the decision to replace old oil tankers.

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has decided to replace such old tankers. The entrepreneurs have halted since Sunday on the transportation of petroleum products from Barauni, India, according to the NOC regional office Biratnagar.

Some 60 tankers now being in India have not carried the  etroleum products and 100 tankers in Biratnagar have been kept empty due to the protest of the entrepreneurs.

Likewise, Eastern Petroleum Transport Entrepreneurs Union has said the transportation halt would be continued indefinitely if NOC becomes irresponsible.

Some 160 tankers from Bairani refinery of India regularly supply the

petroleum products to eastern part of the country.
