Egypt: Suez Protesters Set Fire To National Democratic Party (NDP ) Government Building In Suez? | Twitter Updates
Preliminary reports indicate that an NDP office in Suez has been set on fire, with some reports claiming it was protesters who set the government building on fire.
Protesters threw petrol bombs at the National Democratic Party office but failed to set it alight. Police fired teargas to push the demonstrators back, they said.
Officials in the city in Egypt's northeast ordered that shops be closed after incidents of looting were reported. Clashes with police left some 55 people injured, according to Reuters witnesses.
Protests in Egypt continue despite the Hosni Mubarak's promise to clamp down hard on the civil unrest.
Twitter is exploding with posts referencing the Suez protests with some claiming the police orchestrated the burning as a pretext to clamp down on the protesters.
