While some countries have banned using red ink to mark errors with crosses  in children's work, considering it " confrontatinal" and "threatening" some countries allow teachers to beat students for not doing their homework if they die six years seems to be enough punishment for such teachers, not so for the parents.
An Egyptian court has sentenced a school teacher to six years in jail for beating a pupil to death because he had not done his homework. Maths teacher Haitham Nabeel Abdelhamid took Islam Amr Badr outside the classroom and hit him violently in the stomach. The 11-year-old boy fainted and later died in hospital of heart failure in the city of Alexandria. The court was told the boy had four broken ribs. Abdelhamid was convicted of manslaughter. He said he only meant to discipline the pupil and did not mean to hurt anyone.
(SOUNBITE)(Arabic) SLAIN BOY'S FATHER, AMR BADR IBRAHIM, SAYING: "He gets six years for killing my son? This is injustice! Those people are apostates in reality. I give these people over to God's judgement. I give these people over to God's judgement. If you want to get revenge for my son, he beat my son, I will go to beat. He killed my son, I go kill him. You want me to be a barbarian? The easiest thing is for me to be a barbarian. And I will get my son's rights. This failure of judiciary and this court doesn't bother me. But I will take my son's rights according to God's law."

No sentence would bring the parents much peace, I suspect. What a horrible story.

It is a horrible devastating tragedy to lose a child. Unthinkable to have your child beaten to death for not doing Math homework. You are right, the parents wont have much peace whatever the sentence is.

First Egypt should ban beating children.

And that teacher should spend at least 20 years in jail.

it is result the islamic religious which give premission to beaten others , the man have a right to beaten his wife , the father have a right to beaten his child , so the teascher play the role of the father . the only way to solution is to prevent violent verses of koran as a courses in Egyptian schools

What a DISGRACE! God rest his soul- that poor boy. That man will burn in living hell. What a loss. A boy is a boy. He was eleven! I would not hesitate to seek revenge in a very ugly way. God Forbid. This is just UNACCEPTABLE. God help the boy's mother and family. This death is unspeakable. Pathetic. My prayer goes out to the mother.
