At least eight people have been reported to be killed in a car bombing at the main police complex in the Pakistani capital Islamabad today. Early reports said that a car bomb exploded within the Police Lines complex killing Eight people. More details are expected.

At least eight people have been wounded in a suicide bomb attack on the main police headquarters in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, police have said.

Police said the attacker had managed to drive into the Police Lines complex before blowing himself up inside an office of the anti-terrorist squad.

One police official told the BBC that at least one person had been killed.

The attack comes just over two weeks after more than 50 people died in a suicide bombing at the Marriott hotel.

It also happened as parliament met in a special joint session for a second day for a classified security briefing on Pakistan's internal security situation.

The joint session of parliament was called to try to help form a national consensus on how to tackle Islamic militancy and the recent surge in suicide bombings.
