Headzup: 25 Reasons To Vote Today

January 1st 2008 well drunken friends sung Auld Lang Syne, falling over each other for kisses and courtship I shed a few tears in the name of change. In 08' we would celebrate the rise of the first woman into the office of President of the United States. Although Hillary Clinton’s run for the White House was cut short at the primary stage by a young upstart from Illinois named Barack Obama, hope for change remained alive. On January 1st I was looking for change and Barack Obama offers change in spades. The truth is...Barack is far more removed from the arcane, disgraceful behaviour of Washington’s elite than Mrs. Clinton could ever hope to be.

A lot can change in politics in a year. Just think about it. Last year at this time, the race for the White House looked entirely different. John McCain was far from being the front-runner on the Republican side. And Barack who? Senator Hillary Clinton and former V.P. candidate John Edwards had to be considered the odds on favorites for the Democrats.

Early Exit Poles show approximately 62% of all voters feel that the economy is issue #1

I am in the minority. I can manage my own money.

Iraq and terrorism are the number one issues for about 16% of voters collectively

But not me.

Health Care and Gas Prices are on the minds of about 5% respectively

You guessed it, I don’t drive and have excellent health insurance.

You do the math, this leaves me in a 1% minority once reserved for patch wearing member of gangland motorcycle clubs.

My issue, my number one concern, my 1%

I can mange my money and have very little sympathy for those on Wall Street, so the economy is definitely out. Iraq? Iraq? Is this election 08'? or 04'? Iraq is also out. As I’ve stated I am privileged to have terrific health insurance, so health care issues will not seize my vote. I also see gasoline as a great evil that we would all be better off with out, so to some degree I see rising gas price as an appropriate preventive measure.

Corruption on Capitol Hill is my #1 issue.

We, the people are not served by those we elect; instead those we elect serve themselves. This is unforgivable, inexcusable and breach of trust of the worst possible kind.
