Election of Republican candidates
Chris Christie won local elections in New Jersey Tuesday, after the counting of 71% of ballots in Tuesday night to Wednesday and became governor of the state of the eastern United States. Similarly in Virginia and for mayor of New York, it's the Republicans who win, a blow to Barack Obama.
New Jersey had voted for Barack Obama at the U.S. presidential ago just one year. Chris Christie wins with 50% of the vote against Democrat Jon Corzine, who was personally supported by the U.S. President and totals 44%. New Jersey is therefore up to the Republicans for the first time in a decade.
During his campaign, Chris Christie has criticized the economic record of his Democratic predecessor. The unemployment rate in October stood at nearly 10% in New Jersey and property taxes are the highest in the country.
This new setback for the Democrats after the Republican victory Bob McDonnell and Michael Bloomberg for mayor of New York, shows that voters seem frightened by some initiatives Barack Obama, as his reform of Medicare, its climate package and his economic rescue plan, even if the economy remained inside election campaigns.
And these elections allow local know-how partly-the policy of the U.S. president is seen over the past year and what are the chances of Democrats to retain control of Congress in elections in mid-term in one year
