“A flash in the pan!”
When applied to a person, this idiom means the person rose to success and then disappears just as quickly. Such is what happened to Televangelist Eliseo Fernando Soriano. Hounded by a multitude of legal problems, the self-proclaimed “pantas” is nowhere to be found. Gone are his daily pompous, arrogant and frequently wet (as in spit) diatribes on anything and everything. He is now reduced to blogging and not a successful one at that. Abandoning his followers to his underlings, he is said to be hiding out somewhere in the U.S. What happened to this once semi-popular false prophet?
Who is Eli?
Eliseo Fernando Soriano, aka Brod Eli was born on April 4, 1947 to parents Triumpo Soriano and Catalina Fernando in Pasay, Rizal. His parents where members of the Iglesia ng Dios kay Kristo Hesus, Haligi at Suhay ng Katotohanan and his father was then the General Secretary and Treasurer. This religion was then headed by Nicolas Perez. For some reason, Eli grew up with his Auntie Toyang who was a devout Catholic and taught Eli catholic doctrines including praying to idols and reciting “Ama Namin”.
At some point his father told him to come to a worship service at his father’s church. He initially did not want to go but his father threatened to throw him out of a window which scared him enough to go. He went to Pasay with his father where he heard Nicolas Perez preached. He was later baptized to his father’s church in Bacoor, Cavite by Filomeno Hizon, a leading and trusted minister of Perez. This is where he started to transform himself into televangelist.
Even early on in his life and career, money had always been an issue with Eli. To pay his debt and support himself, he started cooking meals to sell. To his own admittance, he said he would gather rotten vegetables thrown away by market vendors and make these into lumpia which he would then sell for human consumption. He would later boast that this was a great idea because his profit margins is high. He also raised chickens and pigs in the back of the house he lived in. As his business grew and economic situation improved, he would engage in money loaning schemes.
In 1980, Eli began broadcasting on radio and in 1983 he had his first television program. He and his program ‘Ang Dating Daan’ became popular specially his ‘Itanong mo kay Soriano’ portion. He seemed unstoppable. As his popularity grew his tongue became even sharper and his tirade harser. But such is justice. His perceived eloquence which brought him success and popularity was the same instrument that would lead to his downfall.
After calling them ‘killers’, muslims converged at the Plaza Miranda in Quiapo to protest. However, by this time Eli has already fled the country because of other legal problems. The muslims then filed a P1 billion libel suit against Eli.
In 2006, Eli was charge with rape and was placed under the Bureau of Immigration watch list but it was too late because Eli has already fled. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued. By now, Eli has an Interpol wanted poster. So far, Eli’s location is still unknown and he’s still a fugitive from the law.
Where is Eli now? Some people know but would not date say. He is running from justice, his flock untended and his “empire” in ruins. Although he has many properties in his name, he does not have the freedom to enjoy such because he is in hiding. How far has this once semi-popular televangelist have fallen? Where he will end up, no one knows. What is known is that his end had only begun.

This story is no longer new to the public but a product of one who has nothing more to say but to repeat and to recast the formerly done thing.
Money, is not a big deal but the source of it counts a lot. Mr. Eliseo Soriano earns for a living out of his labor. At least he cooked meals, unlike the other preachers of these days who depend from donations and offerings for their chief support. Mr. Eli Soriano
There is neither issue on the picking of vegetables because it is always a practice by wholesalers of vegetables in the market that those which are slightly blemished are thrown for it is no longer saleable to the public especially the well-off families but it does not mean that it is no longer fit for human consumption. Actually, nutritionists even encourage people not to buy those vegetables that are so clean on its flesh for it is a fact that lots of fertilizers are being sprayed on it, hence, chemicals are present which is very dangerous to ones health. In fact, there are a lot of families nowadays that are being fed or who can survive eating slightly rotten vegetables. Better enough than those who are eating stolen food or from donations and offerings.
Raising chickens and pigs is even commendable because one is not helping oneself but foremost helping the economy feeding people from his own works not merely asking for food. Growth from being industrious and workaholic is far better than those people who use the Words of God to earn a living. Lending money without expecting so much in return is also a great virtue, that is Mr. Eliseo Soriano, giving his earnings to help and feed others, not even members of his own family.
Mr. Eliseo Soriano’s downfall as THIS detractor says is a mere wishful thinking. It is indeed the exact opposite. The truth is that Mr. Eli Soriano is no longer for local but for international or even universal use by God. Hence, God did not permit him to stay any longer here in the Philippines for the people needs him far beyond borders. It is God’s ways and schemes that moved Mr. Eli Soriano to foreign land to be able to spread the Words of the Living God and bless and save children of God who are scattered worldwide and not just here in the Philippines.
If Mr. Eli Soriano is not seen personally in the Philippines, it is not to his liking but the workings of the Holy Spirit. Happenings and events may not be to some people’s liking but it is true to the spiritual fact that man’s ways is not God’s ways.
With regards to legal problems encountered by Mr. Eli Soriano, it all cropped up and originated from his detractors. It is a form of harassment just to prevent Mr. Eli Soriano from telling the truth. Cases filed against him which in the end mostly of it are dismissed as it was not proven, are mere fabrications and false accusations. It is being filed against him anywhere in order to create a mess and financial hassles to Mr. Soriano’s organization. Everything Mr. Soriano’s detractors are doing, are desperate moves just to bar Mr. Soriano from preaching the Gospel of Christ and divulging the wrongdoings and lies of religious leaders foremost the INC ni Manalo.
The question of Mr. Eli’s whereabouts is not also new. Perhaps, for his detractors his whereabouts is really unknown, otherwise, they would have a chance to pursue their plans to kill Mr. Eli Soriano for the reason that their organizations are adversely affected. But, for Mr. Eli Soriano’s followers, they know his whereabouts and they even can talk to him every time they need his advice. In fact, Mr. Eli Soriano is all over the globe performing Bible Expositions, Bible Studies, charity works and lots of good deeds for the benefit of the people.
Mr. Eli Soriano is not running from justice, rather, HE IS LOOKING FOR JUSTICE as such is no longer available in his own country, the beloved Philippines. Mr. Eli Soriano’s properties, though he acquired it from his hardwork are really enjoyed by him because he shared it to his brothers and sisters in Christ. His brethren are the ones enjoying the fruits of his labors where Mr. Eli Soriano is most happy giving even his life for the sake of his people.
Mr. Eliseo F. Soriano, for the information of the blind, is not in hiding. Rather, it is the leader of the cult of Manalo who is notoriously in hiding where even his followers could not even see him.
God is really great and good. He had chosen a person in Mr. Eliseo F. Soriano to lead His people to salvation. This phenomenal preacher is very much well known now to many countries and people of different race. This is the reason why his detractors are getting more desperate in pursuing to kill Mr. Eli Soriano. His popularity is phenomenal for it is not just the works of an ordinary person but of a Supreme One guiding Mr. Eli Soriano wherever he is.
God knows where Mr. Eliseo F. Soriano will end up. It is not for his detractors to preempt because for sure their anticipation would be very bias.
Let time tell.

To the author of this post who intentionally misrepresents Eliseo Soriano (the original, www.truthcaster.com):
Apparently, you do not know many things about Brother Eliseo Soriano that's why you've only come up with this poorly written short story. You're misspellings and incorrect grammar maybe excusable, but disinformation is not.
I may easily assume that you're a fanatic of Manalo, the archenemy of Soriano in the Philippines, that's why I understand the woeful plight you're into.
So allow me to ask you these similar questions to you, Mr. Falsecaster — Where is Eraño Manalo? Who is he? Is his father (Felix) really an Angel? with wings? can he fly? Is he really better than Jesus Christ (who is a mere human)? Isn't he also a self-proclaimed Last Messenger of God and is already dead? Then who the heck are these successors to the last (Eraño and Erdie) hiding in their mansions? Does holy supper really taste good when served hot in the morning or in midday perhaps? And are you not aware of the actual crimes of your church and leaders including but not limited to rape and murder?
If you're so ignorant of Manalo and INC's history, then don't pretend to know Soriano. Your questions can all be answered if you only ask him directly. That is because he is not in hiding. It's exactly the opposite! He is unflaggingly preaching God's words in different parts of the world.
To prove that, just try to attend any of his regular Bible Expositions. I heard this coming Thursday (Dec 18), it will be in Batangas, Philippines.

Yes, that is what this religious cult is after for - resbak.
They use their influence in government to fight back, taunt or abuse those who will come their way and question their authority, actions or anything that may offend them even when it concerns only a simple game of basketball.
Remember that there was this legal case where some INC members sacked, blow-torched, and killed before throwing to the River Pasig their play mates in a basketball. Those hapless victims are students at PUP or Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
What more? Policemen being reduced into pulp by INC members for unintentionally blocking the gates of an INC chapel due to traffic.

This work of malice first appeared in Topix.net under the name of Conrad J. Obligacion. He is a member of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) pretending to want to meet Bro. Eli and shake his hands, and so was asking for an address. We told him that only a hired killer will want to ask for an address as the INC is even using the Interpol to trace the whereabouts of Bro. Eli on false charges of rape.
If Obligacion (We are not sure a person exists with this name) is really interested in the truth, he can listen to the preachings of Bro. Eli as he preaches 24/7 in the radio, the TV, and the Internet, but he insists on an address.
Finally, he got fed up with our answers and said that Bro. Eli "must face up to the music." Meaning, he had finally uncovered himself as an INC member pretending to be someone honestly thirsting for truth.
This post here is a reproduction of what he had posted in Topix.net. That means he is spamming.

If you have no affiliation with the INC, why are you so bent on destroying someone you do not even know? Right! The answer is this: You are a hired hack from your business that is on PR.
How much were you bought then? Why did you have to re-write the biography of the preacher and twist it? Your intent is not to destroy him, you said? Your actions belie what comes out of your mouth. To write what you learned about him? Hey, dude, learning is not swallowing lies from the world of fools!
Well, “making enemies in a short period of time” can be done by prophets. It is because he is fearless and he speaks out the truth. Aside from the false preachers that he had exposed, it is the Iglesia ni Cristo and its members who are the only ones against him - stealing his identity, twisting everything about him, morphing his face and attaching it to whatever, splicing tapes on his discourses to project the opposite, and creating enemies for him like they did to the Muslims.
You seem so interested that he be arrested. Why? What has he done? What good will it do to you? Can you do what he is doing for many destitute Filipinos that no politician do not even care about? Can you preach like he is doing to the world 24/7 without much rest? Can you expound on the Word of God like he is doing? Can you be like him who is now the most sensible preacher the world has met?
If ever he gets arrested, it is because God has allowed it. The Iglesia ni Cristo has filed case after case against him and the complainants are those that Soriano had excommunicated from the Church but left for the Iglesia ni Cristo. If ever he gets killed, it is because God has allowed it. And do not think “it will do him good.” No, you miss the whole point. Nobody wants to be stopped from his work – especially if what he is doing is propagating the Word of God. If ever your wishes come true, it is because it is for the good of God’s work – not for the good of Soriano. God may have a purpose and that is not your own business anymore.

The answer is simple and obvious: They write negatively about Mr. Soriano because they have been oriented doing that. See how detailed they try to malign the man. A Catholic critic would not have the heart to impugn such discrediting facts. They would go straight to doctrine. A Baptist would not even say something about that. The only group I know which is fond and so absorbed of doing such 'bitch-ness' is the INC. I have been closely monitoring the oral arguments of the two groups since their word war began. I am still waiting for the conclusion of the matter, but as I see it, I guess I can make an apocalyptic and fearless forecast - the INC will lose at the end. They have not muttered against the doctrine of Mr. Soriano - only his person.

Correction please, Manalo is not just a billionaire but a thrillionaire. That's why he could afford to hire great liars at all cost just to ruin the phenomenal preachers in whatever ways possible. Manalo could even buy big politicians down to idiot policemen who have no principles but to be like dogs of Manalo. Of course, not all of them are unprincipled. There are still a lot of public officials who are composed and could not be swayed by the money of the Manalos. But, they are the rare and exceptional ones.
The blind author of this article, is amongst these unprincipled animals. Well this is, by far, the worst biography I've read in my three decades of existence.
I have been a serious follower of Mr. Soriano for the past two or something years now, and I must say that what you've written here is stupid. My kid peered from my shoulder and asked me "Whatcha readin'?"
I told him "Bird crap, son."
What, may I ask, is your basis on calling Mr. Soriano a false preacher? Because from where I stand, he's the only person alive today who can link together Biblical passages like Lego blocks. He's that good! And you dare say that he's a false prophet? So who's true? He's here, I believe, for a purpose. And that is to spread God's word. Cause let me tell you now, mister, truth doesn't come like rain in this day and age.

If anyone disagrees with some of Pastor Soriano's doctrine, it is I. But, he is entitled to his opinions just like yours posted here. That is the freedom of self expression enjoyed in the Republic. You can disagree with the Pastor and that is ok, but being a keyboard terrorist is not real bravery. Anyone kid can type letters if he knows the alphabet. But not anyone can stand up to a public debate. Now that will require a real man. I disagree with Pastor Soriano on several things but I see no need to want him arrested or dead just because some homosexual files a complaint. I would not want this even for Pastor Manalo. I disagree with a lot of INC doctrine, but I would not want him arrested or mistreated if some devilish homosexual made a false accusation against him. These are things for a court if the court system was fair. In the case of Pastor Soriano, the Philippine justice system has already shown it is not a fair court system. I do not blame Pastor Soriano for not turing himself over to men who could easily stage his murder and call it something else. I think your gripe with Pastor Soriano needs to turn into a debate with him. Until I see this, I will not take much of what you write seriously. By the way, I deleted you from my friends list because your using the name "truthcaster" was stealing a name Pastor Soriano has used for a long time. I thought oyu were he when you asked to be listed on my friends list. For someone who hates Pastor Soriano, why are you stealing his name "truthcaster"?

whew! overwhelming reactions coming from ADDs! are you all sleeping sound and well nowadays? it seems like you all are the same persons defending this man of lies in the net huh... it seems like you are the ones who are bothered so much that you cannot keep your mouth shut to an article that all of you think is not much of importance... so why react if you feel this way? why react so much to the point that I can even feel your nerves shaking, voice trembling? obviously there is so much anger, envy, hatred in your hearts of looosssssing the battle.....first a fugitive leader who ran away from a debate and from his criminal charges that he can openly and anytime defend himself through the democratic way (due process), but he chose to run away. being a fugitive is adding insult to his long list of injuries done.
