“A flash in the pan!”
When applied to a person, this idiom means the person rose to success and then disappears just as quickly. Such is what happened to Televangelist Eliseo Fernando Soriano. Hounded by a multitude of legal problems, the self-proclaimed “pantas” is nowhere to be found. Gone are his daily pompous, arrogant and frequently wet (as in spit) diatribes on anything and everything. He is now reduced to blogging and not a successful one at that. Abandoning his followers to his underlings, he is said to be hiding out somewhere in the U.S. What happened to this once semi-popular false prophet?
Who is Eli?
Eliseo Fernando Soriano, aka Brod Eli was born on April 4, 1947 to parents Triumpo Soriano and Catalina Fernando in Pasay, Rizal. His parents where members of the Iglesia ng Dios kay Kristo Hesus, Haligi at Suhay ng Katotohanan and his father was then the General Secretary and Treasurer. This religion was then headed by Nicolas Perez. For some reason, Eli grew up with his Auntie Toyang who was a devout Catholic and taught Eli catholic doctrines including praying to idols and reciting “Ama Namin”.
At some point his father told him to come to a worship service at his father’s church. He initially did not want to go but his father threatened to throw him out of a window which scared him enough to go. He went to Pasay with his father where he heard Nicolas Perez preached. He was later baptized to his father’s church in Bacoor, Cavite by Filomeno Hizon, a leading and trusted minister of Perez. This is where he started to transform himself into televangelist.
Even early on in his life and career, money had always been an issue with Eli. To pay his debt and support himself, he started cooking meals to sell. To his own admittance, he said he would gather rotten vegetables thrown away by market vendors and make these into lumpia which he would then sell for human consumption. He would later boast that this was a great idea because his profit margins is high. He also raised chickens and pigs in the back of the house he lived in. As his business grew and economic situation improved, he would engage in money loaning schemes.
In 1980, Eli began broadcasting on radio and in 1983 he had his first television program. He and his program ‘Ang Dating Daan’ became popular specially his ‘Itanong mo kay Soriano’ portion. He seemed unstoppable. As his popularity grew his tongue became even sharper and his tirade harser. But such is justice. His perceived eloquence which brought him success and popularity was the same instrument that would lead to his downfall.
After calling them ‘killers’, muslims converged at the Plaza Miranda in Quiapo to protest. However, by this time Eli has already fled the country because of other legal problems. The muslims then filed a P1 billion libel suit against Eli.
In 2006, Eli was charge with rape and was placed under the Bureau of Immigration watch list but it was too late because Eli has already fled. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued. By now, Eli has an Interpol wanted poster. So far, Eli’s location is still unknown and he’s still a fugitive from the law.
Where is Eli now? Some people know but would not date say. He is running from justice, his flock untended and his “empire” in ruins. Although he has many properties in his name, he does not have the freedom to enjoy such because he is in hiding. How far has this once semi-popular televangelist have fallen? Where he will end up, no one knows. What is known is that his end had only begun.

"Not biased." I've heard that one before. The website was first created in 2000 and no update was made since then. There's not a page which tells you who there are, where they can be located and contacted and what's their motivation for creating such a site. There's an email address but I don't think it's still live. I've sent them an email asking them to identify themselves but haven't gotten any response. Their claims are the similar if not the same claims made by Soriano and his shills. I wouldn't pay any attention to this site.

I expect he is hiding away on one of the many Islands.
I really hate these home brewed religions as we see criminals and con-men start them a prey on the weak easily indoctrinated in the sake of making easy money. Faith is important to many people that need a staff of hope. Of course being an atheist my self makes me bias against religion but that does not stop me to see its best values.
My advice to any body that believes in God that its best to cut out the middle man and pray direct as the middle men want your money.
If there is a God the learn to look through a caring all loving Gods eyes such a God does not need temples or people to spend money, but just hear and know you are faithful to him and kind to all those around you.
Such a God as explained in the holy books wants a person relationship with you and does not wish you to be controlled by others do their bidding in his name.
Such a God would be dismayed at the site of so many cults each and every one of the true pathway to heaven and the in bickering and murder in his name.
Then this guy Eliseo stated he and his followers are the only ones to be able to read the real meaning in the Bible. Then you have another group that have set a number of there membership will only be allowed in to heaven.
Then another group of extremist are told only eat with the right hand.
Then there is the issue of not eating pork.
Some of mans views what god, or gods wants are simply crazy and beggar belief with every follower believing they are on the right path such indoctrination to this free thinking man simply give indication that Jesus Christ views about Human kind are well founded most humans are like sheep and can be flocked and indoctrinated.
But Eliseo was to my mind driven by greed and certainly not a good Christian.

People like Soriano give religion in general and Christianity in particular a bad name, but they shouldn't stop anyone for searching for the true religion.
I learned and now believe that religion and worship of God is necessary and essential for man to be "human". If not for an expressed worship of God, how would we be different from animals. More importantly, we were created for the primary purpose of worshiping God.
Protestants believe that they can call "directly" to God, but I'm learning that that belief is not based on scriptures and it's actually contrary to bible teachings. So, although I can understand your reason for "cutting out the middle man", it is not biblical.
All peoples of God in the bible had someone to lead them and teach them. The same holds true in our time. But you only need to find him.
But, it's definitely not Soriano. You might want to check out Net 25 or GEM TV 49 on Philippine TV.

Sorry to tell you this, but your comments shows that you are just guessing and trying to show to the whole world that you know something which indeed, you are ignorant of. Please, do not just make comments for the sake of commenting. Be reasonable and sensible.
You may not believe it Babel, but it is the TRUTH. You may try it for yourself. You may attend, Bro. Eli's Bible Expositions, and you will see for yourself that the phenomenal preacher is not just an ordinary Bible genius but One Who is really guided by the Holy Spirit.
Babel, by stating this, you are again stating something without a basis, but mere presumptions. This only shows that your mind and heart are full of trash, manifesting in the words that comes out from your mouth. How can you say that Bro. Eliseo is driven by greed and not a good Christian. Have you spent even just a day with him or known him personally? Or, did you have a chance to talk to him or even met him once?

Interpol's database is clear that he is wanted. Why don't you check it yourselves (if you have the guts to really see the truth) and mind you, a person who is listed in interpol is also wanted in the jurisdiction who served the warrant.
Let him be tried, if he has nothing to fear then why won't he face his charges? Let's make sure its covered (his trial) by the local networks so that his trial will be as popular as his indiscriminate bashing of other religions, if he is acquitted then well and good for him, if not, he must ANSWER to the charges.

With an INTERPOL warrant served, where is Mr. Soriano travelling? helping lost souls? Yes, maybe in a quiet room looking into himself but PLEASE do not post for the sake of making excuses. If you know where he is, and you know he has done nothing wrong, why don't you tell the local police and maybe put an end to this article? Mr. Soriano must and WILL before man and before God, answer for the accusations he is facing. Oh, and who are you to be telling people what to expect? I think he is hiding too. And you know what, Wikipedia says so too, so, maybe its you who don't have a very realistic way of viewing things. Oh wait, yes, the world is wrong because they have a different point of view right?

I've been to the official site of Interpol and done some searching over the allegations above and the result came nothing. Clearly, you're only fooling yourselves.
Kahit ano namang sabihin nyo kay Mr. Soriano, halata namang puro paninira lang lahat. Kung nagtatago yung tao e bakit nakakapag- bible exposition pa sa abroad tsaka nakakapag-hooked up pa every week sa Apalit Central? If he is seriously wanted for any charges against anyone then why don't send some NBI and Interpol Agents on their Central and do some investigations on where his exact location might be? Matatalino naman siguro yung mga Investigative Agents, di ba?

You know, a church is not about numbers, its not how many people you get. It's about bringing the news of Salvation truthfully and with integrity. It's about respect and love for people. I AM not affiliated with INC as you are suspecting in fact our church is also being bashed by INC but not as indiscriminate as your leader does.
You know, you just told me how blind you are since INTERPOL has only one legitimate website and it could be easily found and used. And if you want the legitimate one, just to be sure, go to wikipedia first and search it there then use the hot links. There are many possibilities why didn't get it: you've gone to a wrong one, you didn't go, you got there but was hoping to see a big picture of your leader and didn't see the search link, or you just blindly defended your leader without even looking. And if you did pass by interpol's website, it's clearly written that they shouldn't be contacted but rather, you should contact the local police and show them the person's poster from interpol. They won't send agents for something that minor.
As for the police not going after him, thats not my business but he is in INTERPOL's database and if you have even an inch of social responsibility in you, since you say you're a hacker like your name suggest, you'd trace that live feed of his and ask him to go public, not in Apalit but in front of the police, not in a streaming cast but in front of the media that HE IS NOT HIDING and that he has an answer to those he is being accused of.
I've been to one of your bible expositions, it is quite convincing and it really made me doubt my own but unlike many who was pursuaded, I did my own homework by praying, reading, studying, and asking those who are more knowledgeable that I am. Not everyone that you invite my dear friend is as lost and defenseless as you are hoping to be.

I'm married with a filipina member of mgci ...and believe me she's well endoctrinated ( pavlov method ?) .If u are god believer ...can u always repeat 'let's talk about the bible' ? As i say well endoctrinated right ? u want another example ? by the teaching of his leader she always repeat ...that "catholics' are bad ...and all other religion are ...wrong ....really ? do u think that it's a positive way when u declare ur self as Christian ..Do u know a religion where u need a card member ? except 'cult' and 'sect' i don't know any.. i surely believe that all those things are political ...many evangelist go to poor countries just to try to input a doubt in mind of poor people ....there are all instrustment of politics .... .it's just a matter of power ...
In Europe church and gouvernement are separated since a long time for the safe of society ...!!!

And the nerves of this Soriano fanatics to compare Soriano to Christ saying Soriano was persecuted just like the way Christ was.. Now that's rediculous! Im no bible scholar but i know Christ was crusifide because he claims to be the messiah & that drove the pharesis into an outrage of anger, the same anger i feel with soriano's fanatics who have posted their msg here.. now tell me, where in pages of the bible did you Soriano fanatics ever find the verse that says Christ was charged of libel, rape, defaming, falcification of public documents & most of all did Christ ever became a "Fugitive"? To all concerned ADD members/followers/fanboys and gals, if you have any information on the exact whereabouts of Eliseo Soriano, as being the good and honest citizens you are, kindly notify the INTERPOL and/or your LOCAL AUTHORITIES IMMEDIATELY!!
Mind you, It is your moral obligation to do such and you must abide by the Law. We believe that your sturdy and well established religious foundation will lead you to do what is right. Do not be an accomplice of a known and WANTED fugitive (yeah aside from it being unlawfull, matakot kayo) Let Justice be served!
Anyway, It is for his own good. And you'll actually be doing him a favor! Believe me! :D
