They are claiming unemployment rose to 8.1%? 8? ..As in eight? The number between 7 and 9? Well I'm not sure where these numbers are coming from but Charlotte Co Florida was at 11% as in ELEVEN over a year ago. You have to remember the figures are innacurate to begin with because as they only count people who APPLY for unemployment who are elligable. People who are not eligable, like me, who are self employed and without work for over a year do not get counted as we don't apply. You can pretty much double or triple any Obama administration numbers.
Here's a little fact: Todays Craigs List jobs >> http://sarasota.craigslist.org/trd/
Nine new listings yesterday not a single one today. Is this thing not updating today or what? It has todays date. Look at the listings on this thing.. people wanting contractors to sign permits to do the work themselves? Well first of all it's ILLEGAL, and second of all I'm pretty sure it's a FELONY. Thats right, look it up contracting to do anything in Charlotte County Fl without a license is a FELONY. Thats why I never work there. and 90% of the calls you get for work there are people wanting a contractor to sign on a permit. For plumbing or A/C or a door replacement. You need to hire a general contractor for everything. A general contractor can't even look at anything thats less than $10,000.00.
So you need to call some big national corporation to come replace your door or window, the new door and window code require you buy armor plated windows that cost about 20X what the old windows did. You need to hire a general contractor and and engineer to determine weather you can even replace your window or door without having to tear down half of the house to do it.
And after you pay $800.00 for a custom made window and wait 8 weeks for delivery and have the opening prepared to meet the size requirements for the new window.. They deliver and install the wrong size. It's about 2" undersized as the salesman neglected to tell you the size of the opening you gave him and explicably said the CUSTOM SIZE window HAS TO FIT THE OPENING. They order one from a list and give you that. The installer takes a peice of old dirty, contaminated, pine 2X4 and throws it on the sill to make up the difference in size. Well it might be to code but white pine against a masonary will rot, and especially under a window.
But thats what you have to pay $800.00 per opening for now. You don't even want to know what it takes to get a door.
