I believe the photo was taken ouside Brighton, in 1916. Dad was 16 at the time. Shortly after the picture was taken he was shipped out to France where he remained for three weeks until it was found out he was under age, and he was shipped home! He joined up again in 1918, just in time to get his "Great War for Civilisation" medal.

That's also my Grandfather in the picture on the far right. Whoever you are Vinny we're obviously related. I too got a copy from Uncle Chris several years ago, although I well remember the original at my Nan's place in Mitcham for many years, along with Grandad's medals.

Hi Gareth, I got an email from Uncle Chris saying that my Uncle Eric (Chris's half brother) thinks the photo was taken in France.
Regards cousin Vinny!
