End of the World 2011: Is May 21, 2011 Judgement Day?

If you have any important appointments, it's best to book them before May 21, 2011. Why? The world is coming to an end, according to some folks.

A growing number of people are trying to tell the world that there isn't much time left since the world will end on May 21, 2011.

Why Is the World Ending on May 21, 2011?

Some believe that May 21, 2011 is Judgment Day, citing clues they've deciphered in the Bible.

Haubert says the Bible contains coded "proofs" that reveal the timing. For example, he says, from the time of Noah's flood to May 21, 2011, is exactly 7,000 years. Revelations like this have changed his life.

The men go on to say that they believe that the world will end May 21 thanks to a series of earthquakes that will begin at 6 pm Pacific time. True believers will be "raptured." Everyone else? Not so much.

The two men in the NPR piece aren't alone.

Radio host Harold Camping held an end of the world rally earlier this month in Washington, DC just to help spread the word that we're all doomed.

Camping previously predicted that the world would end on September 6, 1994. I don't have the research here in front of me and I can't seem to find a Wikipedia entry on this, but I'm going to go ahead and say that his first end-of-the-world prediction was wrong.

Whether his May 21, 2011 end of the world prediction is right remains to be seen.

Even if Camping and the gang prove to be wrong, we won't be out of the woods. After all, the Mayans and John Cusack predicted that the world will end in 2012.

How about everyone just hang tight and /not/ cancel those late-May appointments? You know, just in case the guy on the radio is wrong about this? Regardless of how many numbers he crunched, Haubert will find the breakfast table on May 22 a very awkward place to be.

i dont know if is this going to be real end of the world this weekend or not, how do they know the world is going to end on may 21 2011? i heard lots of storys about world end such as the world is going end on march 21 2011, but it didnt happen, now they change to the may 2011 21st... and we dont know is it going to be the world end on 2011 in december.. i know someday the world will end but we cant guest the days which and when will end. we dont know when that day will come when we will all die. but we have to be prapare if something happens. but try to live how you live now. and think about your future! dont think about the world end, just forget that. if its going to be then its going to be. we dont know what will happen and when.
