ICC Champions Trophy 2013 3rd Match: England vs Australia Video Highlights
England dominated in the third match of the ICC Champions Trophy as they defeated Australia by 48 runs at Edgbaston here on Saturday.
Chasing a target of 270 runs, Australian batsmen managed to score only 221 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 50 overs in the Group A clash.
Australia made a poor start to the run chase as they lost the wicket of opener David Warner (9) in the sixth over of the match with just 17 runs on the scoreboard.
George Bailey remained the top scorer for Australia with his 55 off 69 balls.
James Faulkner remained unbeaten on 54 as he hit five boundaries and six in his knock.
James along with Clint McKay added 31 runs in the last wicket partnership as they prevented Australia from getting all out in their opening match of the tournament.
England's James Anderson led the bowling as he scalped three wickets by giving away 30 runs in his 10 overs. Tim Bresnan picked up two wickets.
Earlier, riding on Ian Bell's 91 runs, England posted a competitive 269 for six on the scoreboard.
Bell and Jonathan Trott (43) added 111 runs in the second wicket partnership as England posted 168 for the loss of only skipper Alastair Cook (30).
Mitchell Starc picked up the wicket of Trott to give England their second blow.
However, a middle-over collapse then made situations bit difficult for England as the scorecard showed 189 for four after 38.3 overs.
Eoin Morgan (8) and Joe Root (12) failed to deliver with their willows. But Ravi Bopara hit an unbeaten 46 and Bresnan remained not out on 19 runs to ensure England post 269 on the scoreboard.
They contributed 56 runs in the seventh wicket partnership.
