A major shopping block in downtown Estes Park, CO., was on fire this morning. The block stood some oldest buildings of the summer resort town. So far no injury has been reported.
The historic Park Theatre was at the center of the fire. It was built in 1913, and was placed on National Register of Historic Places. The Park Theatre was closed for the season, and set to reopen in May 2010.
The fire started between 6:30 and 7:00 am. The cause of the fire is not yet determined. Fire is now contained after it consumed Park Theatre Mall
"It's still really bad, there's huge flames still coming out of the Park Theatre Mall historic building, the flames have reached the front of the Park Theatre Mall building, which is on the Elkhorn side, which is our very downtown," Kris Hazleton of the Estes Park News said around 9 a.m. "So the fear is there since the wind's picked up, the fire is going to spread to different buildings in the downtown area."
Witnesses have uploaded videos on Youtube and pictures on Twitter.

Dear SWU, Please consider the consequences of your words before you report them. The town of Estes Park was not burning. Only one storefront with 7 or 8 stores. Although this is tragic for the proprietors of the effected stores, it is only a small percentage of the town. In addition, the Mayor of the town has been quoted as saying that he was thankful there were no high winds present today to spread the flames. Irresponsible reporting like this could impact the tourism of Estes Park so please change the headline and remove the reference to high winds.

Thanks for the comment. I have changed the headline and changed the reference to high winds. I apologize for the mistake as information was unavailable at the time.
