Estimates Show Sarah Palin's Assets Top $1M

(WASILLA, Alaska) — Sarah Palin and her husband have pieced together a uniquely Alaskan income that reached comfortably into six figures even before she became governor, capitalizing on valuable fishing rights, a series of land deals and a patchwork of other ventures to build an above-average lifestyle.

Add up the couple's 2007 income and the estimated value of their property and investments and they appear to be worth at least $1.2 million. That would make the Palins, like Democratic vice presidential rival Joe Biden and his wife Jill, well-off but not nearly as wealthy as multimillionaire couples John and Cindy McCain and, to a lesser extent, Barack and Michelle Obama.

As we listen to Sarah Palin talk and continue to associate herself with middle America we have to look at the facts and see how middle American she really is.  We know that if your involved in politics you really dont make allot of money, but politics bring connections that get you that big jackpot in the end.  I am not saying that any of the candidates are living in middle America, but Palin has made her story a middle American story where she identifies with us in the middle.

The truth is, I dont have 1.2 million in assets but I am middle America.  Sarah Palin has a number of investments and assets that give her a nice chunk of change each year.  I hardly think that we can call 1.2 million middle class. 

My point is clear, we have to choose based on the issues, based on what concerns us most in America.  However, we have reached a dead end in politics.  What will the next 4 years be like if the last 8 years have been hell.  I think Sarah Palin is sharp on a scripted basis, I think when given a script and talking points she really captures the crowd.  What we need in Washington is someone that can talk without the talking points.  We need someone that when corned by the media in the middle of a crisis will be able to perform.

We have real issues in America that deserve real solutions.  Sarah Palin should stop making the point that she is middle America.  We in middle America dont have 1.2 million dollars.
