Estonia torments ethnic Russians with rotten food

Why to blame Estonia, if it is Finns who send the rotten food? Because the food is actually OK, but with biased arguments, it can be used to harm Estonia, which seems to be targeted by Russians all the time.

Well, the result of this may be, that Finnish stores quit sending food for Russians in Estonia, and they get another reason to blame Estonia.

Another scandal connected with the position of the Russian-speaking population is gathering pace in Estonia (a former republic of the Soviet Union). It turned out that the humanitarian aid, which elderly people of Russian origin receive in the Baltic country, consists of expired food stuffs from Finland. Authorities presumably ship the expired food to the areas where the Russian-speaking population is predominant, the Rossiiskaya Gazeta reports.
Finnish food chain stores S-Kauppa and K-Kauppa sacrificed tons of expired food to humanitarian organizations. The latter delivered bad food to Estonia for social needs.

Pasi, I like this story. It's good stuff. What?  You mean the ungrateful Russians didn't like the hard leipaa, pulla and piirakka?  Oh well, they can always use them as frisbees...

Local authorities in eastern Estonia have never heard of any sizable food donations. In fact, local aid officials can't remember _any_ food donations in past years. And yes, said authorities/officials are from Russian-speaking population.

Thanks to Aamulehti for making this shit up and supplying Pravda with ammunition.

I just bought some old good chocolate with the date somewhere from 2008 on it - in Tallinn, at the Railway market Baltijaama turg. Ladies sell good food, cheap, a little old, but who cares if it is not bad? It´s a hysteria about dates on the food. Better would be if you look, smell and taste it first - then you know if it is bad or good. Of course meat for example you have to be careful with.
