EU Elections 2009: Updated Results

European Union states voted today on the final day of European Parliamentary elections.
Although centrist parties are expected to hold on to power in the 736-member European Parliament, several far-right parties are also expected to gain ground in the polls. Right-wing parties in the Netherlands and Austria have made huge strides in polls. In the Netherlands, exit polls suggest that Geert Wilders' far right Freedom Party took seats from the ruling Christian Democrats party.
Despite voter anger over the current economic crisis, voter turnout turned out to be just 45 percent.
