The Philippine Senate is conducting its investigation regarding the General that was detained in Russia for carrying 105k euros. Now he is wanted by the Senate for not attending the investigation headed by Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago this morning. Senator Santiago even ordered the arrest of Dela Paz.

MANILA, Philippines - Administration Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago on Thursday ordered the arrest of retired police Director Eliseo dela Paz for snubbing the Senate probe on the P6.9-million Moscow mess.

Santiago, who chairs the Senate foreign relations committee, vented her ire on dela Paz's lawyers, rejecting their explanations for the retired police officer's absence at the Senate hearing.

"I command you...arrest him now and bring him (dela Paz) here if possible," Santiago told Senate sergeant-at-arms retired Gen. Jose Balajadia Jr.

Thanks for the flag Dave! Tension is heating up on this issue as the senate is now accusing the "euro general" of avoiding investigations.

francisrivera, I like this story. It's good stuff. Good article, wrong headline "Euro-general", no european general involved. The bribes in (Euro currency) a normal thing in the Philipines, went probably to Dala Paz during an Interpol police meeting in Russia (not a Euro zone)

Dela Paz and his wife were held by Russian authorities last week for carrying undeclared cash amounting to 105,000 euros (P6.9 million). He was part of the eight-man PNP delegation that attended the recent 77th International Police (Interpol) General Assembly in St. Petersburg. -

"Euro General" ---> it's one of those terms used by the Philippine media to easily describe and classify a person, thing or event.

You write not on a local newspaper, this is international, and you better avoid wrong terms for international viewers. This is the problem people don't look any more NP. Otherwise this is junk level or manipulating news.

This is not for a local newspaper and I am not manipulating news. It might clarify somethings if you would learn first what "euro" really means. The news did not say "European" generals. And to set things straight it is not I who called them "euro generals" it is how they are marked by Broadcast Media.
