John Edwards, former Presidential candidate and Senator, denied repeatedly that he had fathered a child with his mistress Rielle Hunter, though he did admit to having the affair, which ended in 2006. Edwards had promised Rielle Hunter a wedding with a performance by Dave Matthews Band, wcnc reports.

According to the newspaper, Young wrote that Edwards once told Hunter they would wed after Edwards' wife, who has cancer, died.

In 2007, John Edwards' ex-aide Andrew Young claimed that he was the father if the child. Young helped Edwards' conduct the affair between Rielle Hunter and John Edwards, as Young reports in a book proposal according to wcnc.com.

Young
writes that Edwards' begged him to claim paternity. To save Edwards' reputation, Andrew Young said that he had fathered the child with Rielle Hunter, even though he had a wife and kids of his own, though no legal papers were signed to confirm this claim.

After Young and Edwards' had a falling out, Young took back his claim and allegedly said that John Edwards' had fathered Rielle Hunter's child, whose birth certificate still has no father named.

A series of mysterious payments to Rielle Hunter's video production company from John Edward's political action committee are being investigated. Authorities suspect that Edwards' campaign funding were 'used improperly', according to woio.com.
Edwards has said the affair with Hunter ended in 2006. That year, Edwards' political action committee paid Hunter's video production firm $100,000 for work. Then the committee paid another $14,086 on April 1, 2007.

The latter payment was allegedly for 100 hours of unused videotape 'shot' by Hunter. The same day Edwards' political action committee reportedly received  $14,034.61 for a 'furniture purchase'.

Edwards' could reportedly be charged with felony and could be sent to prision for up to 5 years if he lied about payments to Rielle Hunter from electoral funding.
