Dr. Kevin Brown, a prominent South L.A. physician and son of the former premier of Bermuda, was sentenced Friday  Dec 16-2011 to 12 1/2 years in state prison for sexually assaulting nearly a dozen patients.

Brown was ordered by L.A. Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor to register for life as a sex offender and to pay more than $12,000 in fines and restitution.

L.A. physician 40-year-old Kevin Antario Brown,and son of the former premier of Bermuda, was found guilty Monday of 21 charges related to sexually assaulting nearly a dozen patients, including a 15-year-old and an undercover Los Angeles police officer.

He "used his practice as "his personal playground," where anyone who went in "was his prey.""

One woman who claimed Brown had kissed her and touched her inappropriately during a 2005 exam said she wrote the doctor a letter urging him to seek spiritual help.

That letter was later found in her medical records and portions were read in court. "They gave him every opportunity to change his ways,"

using the guise of unnecessary breast and pelvic checkups,33 felony sex counts,he could face life in prison if convicted on all of them.The state is also investigating Brown in "multiple healthcare fraud schemes and over prescription of Oxycodone," ie; he "alledgedly"stole from the disabled, elderly & taxpayer's

At the time of his arrest, Brown was free on bail for a previous sexual assault arrest.

Another victim came in to discuss a lump on her breast only to have Brown put his face on her chest and his mouth on her breast as part of the supposed examination, the prosecutor said.

The defendant was denied bail and was handcuffed and immediately taken into custody pending sentencing.

Deputy District Attorney Ann-Marie Wise estimated Brown could get a maximum term of 16 years and 10 months in state prison.

Brown, a family practitioner, was arrested in 2008.
