NP Rank:
Exclusive meeting with "The Exonerated" - Kerry Cook.
On November 25th. The Stavanger School of Cathedral (high school in Stavanger) in cooperation with Amnesty International (South) Norway was given a presentation by former "death row" inmate Kerry Max Cook.
Kerry was arrested in 1977 in Texas, convicted of the rape and murder of Linda Jo Edwards. He was put for trial and sentenced to death. For 22 years, Cook lived in a living hell, experiencing being assaulted by fellow inmates and sexually abused.
While imprisoned, Cook learned that his father had died of cancer and his brother was shot to death outside a bar, after a small brawl.
In 1997 - 11 days before his scheduled execution, he was released, but wasn't exonerated until 1999. Kerry now has a son who is named Kerry Justice Cook. After being released, Cook wrote the book "Chasing Justice" where he accuse the State of Texas for miscarriage of justice. He now holds presentations about his experiences behind bars.
