Buncefield Explosion and fire at Buncefield Oil Storage Depot: Five companies including Total UK Ltd to face prosecution. Criminal proceedings have been commmenced against Total UK Ltd, Hertfordshire Oil Storage Ltd; British Pipeline Agency Ltd; TAV Engineering Ltd; and Motherwell Control Sytems 2003 Ltd following a thorough and complex criminal investigation conducted by the Health and Safety Executive and the Environment Agency.

The Intial court date has been fixed for 23 January at West hertfordshire Magistrates Court.

On the 11th December 2005 a number of explosions occured. The first massive explosion and then followed a fire that went on for days, with smoke covering the Landsape for miles. Victims of the blast and explosion have been waiting for compensation for three years.
Ian Silverstein who's home still stands in ruins destroyed as a result of the Buncefield explosion was only yards from the blast. Mr Silverstein has taken part in a new documentary 'Buncefield Three Years On', telling his story is due to be released on the 11th December 2008.
