External Affairs Minister urged to save Indian students’ career
Hyderabad, Jan.27 : The Telugu Desam party president and Leader of Opposition in the
Assembly, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, has urged the External Affairs Minister, Mr S M Krishna, to help the Indian students who face the prospect of returning to the country without pursuing their education because of the fraud played on them by an American University.
In his letter to the Union Minister, Mr Naidu has mentioned about the admission of 950 Indian students in the Tri-valley University, Pleasanton, California collecting lakhs of dollars as fees. He said of them 750 students were from Andhra Pradesh who joined to pursue their higher studies. He said the future of all these students was now at stake as an inquiry by the Immigration and Customs authorities had pointed out that the University had no permission to give visas to all these students and a case was filed in the court there. He said the university reportedly had permission to issue only 30 visas, but has
given 939 visas against the rules.
Stating that all these students come from middle class families, Mr Naidu urged the Union minister to intervene and ensure that the US government provided them alternatives for pursuing their studies, without having to come back to India.
