Religious fanatics from India want to overthrow a democratically elected government in Nepal in order to reinstate a much despised monarch .
Hardline Hindus have vowed an "armed struggle" to save Nepal's King Gyanendra from losing his throne after former Maoist rebels swept elections in the home of the world's last Hindu monarchy.
Last week, the former rebels reiterated their pledge to abolish the monarchy as soon as a new interim government sits.
But the Indian priest said Hindus could not allow that to happen.
"Wecannot tolerate this and will start an armed struggle against theMaoists," he said, without providing details on what the groups plannedto do.

asterix, I like this story. It's good stuff. It appears that the situation in Nepal is not going to resolve anytime soon.

This King Gyanendra must be a real piece of work if people would rather have communists than him. Remember what Mao said...."The power of communism comes from the barrel of a gun."

In fact, things don't seem to be improving at all. And like eastvanray says, why people would want to have communists, and mind it, communists smeared in 12 years of blood be allowed to regime. There's nothing wrong with Gyanedra, only that his over aimbition worked against him. Unfortunately, the the Maoists striked the chords at the exact time when the kings unpopularity was soaring.
Just a good luck to Maoists and bad luck to the king - I suppose.
