Elmendorf Air Force Base Loses F-22 Fighter Jet

An F-22 Raptor fighter jet, along with its pilot is missing after losing contact with Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, a military base in Anchorage, Alaska. The F-22, which comes equipped with stealth technology, has proven a little too stealthy, as it disappeared during a training mission.

Elmendorf Air Force Base was joined with Fort Richardson in October 2010 as part of a military-base streamlining move.

An Air Force F-22 assigned to the 3rd Wing at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, lost contact with air traffic control at 7:40 p.m. Alaska time today while on a routine training mission.
