Friday marked the golden anniversary of the government agency that regulates our skies.On Friday on the Delaney Park Strip people gathered to mark the day. The U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific performed. There were speeches, as well, from Senators Ted Stevens and Lisa Murkowski.
The event kicked off with an F-22 flyover.
"FAA has a vital mission in air safety. And we run the safest air transportation system in the world. And this is a opportunity for us to celebrate our accomplishments," said Jacki Holzman of the Federal Aviation Administration.
The FAA was signed into existence by President Eisenhower on August 23, 1958.
