It’s very gloomy this afternoon the clouds are collecting in a dark grey mass that is the normal prediction of a tropical storm. I tend to have a headache at such times that predicts sheet lightning and crashing booming sound that even shakes the foundations of my house.

However as yet my thinking is not hindered by a pounding head ache and we can expect mostly heavy rain within half an hour or so here in Dumaguete City.

It’s just like the new problem seen in Korea to day the threat of North Korea of a new North South war. Its not yet blown into a full blown head ache just a warning that a headache cure could avert a real painful headache in South East Asia.

The problem is that a Korean culture code of honor will not allow South Korea to back down and North Korea will not back down and it’s all to do with losing face.  There of course is a cure and that is if UN says to South Korea that thanks but there offer to join anti-proliferation program  is not really a requirement.

Notice each time North Korea has been belittled, North Korea has responded arrogantly to project Face.  If the world does not start to understand the Korean Culture and its honor code, things will escalate  further because of both North and South’s arrogant attitude to keep face.

Trick situation that will certainly lead to a fresh war and plenty of bloodshed of many innocent civilians.  Hopefully a very wise advisor will be pounding on Obama’s door to provide a solution that will be accepted by both North and South Korea.

Someone needs to cool the situation down and give face to both North and South Korea. But who?

This is a good post and a great take on part of the problem we keep facing. The Korean culture is in many ways similar to the Japanese culture and the Cantonese culture as well.

Over the past 1500 years the three of them invaded each other and learned for each other as well as colonized each other and exchanged trade as well as know how in times of peace.

Eve their writing and languish have some similarities even though Japanese has managed to remain more distinct in that regard due to fact that it is composed of Island and has no connection with the continent.
