York's third annual Fairtrade Wine Tasting event, part of the Festival of Food and Drink, was held in the grand surroundings of the Minster's Chapter House on Tuesday 23rd September.
Whilst the guests' taste buds were occupied with the flavours of the seven selected Fairtrade wines, their ears were entertained by a performance from members of the Micklegate Singers, York's first Fairtrade choir. There was a talk about how Fairtrade is helping winegrowers in South Africa, and Kate Lock, author of "Confessions of an Eco-Shopper" gave a talk about her experiences and experiments with organic wines.
The event was sponsored by The Co-Operative, who supplied all wines used for the event. It was organised by the Fair Trade Forum - the group of volunteers behind York's successful push toward Fairtrade City status.
