FARC: Uribe still attempts to kill both Hugo Chavez and Rafael Correa.
Caracas, Venezuela, 7 June, 2008. According to FARC leader Ivan Marquez, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe continues to plot against the life of both Venezuelan and Ecuadorian President, Hugo Chavez and Rafael Correa. According to Marquez, Uribe is a terrorist as he sent one thousand paramilitaries to Venezuela to kill Chavez. Uribe also plots against President Correa through a military man called Aguas.
This FARC revelation come after President Chavez asked them to free all hostages unconditionally. Such change of foreign policy towards FARC has readily backed by Colombian government. It has also been criticised as inconsistency by the Venezuelan opposition. It claims no long ago, Chavez asked international community to recognize FARC status as legitimate freedom fighting organization and not a terrorist one. Furthermore, it argues this 180° change in foreign policy is due to the evidence collected in the Raul Reyes laptop. Reyes was killed during an illegal intervention of Colombia into Ecuadorian territory last 1 March 2008. The laptop was then subject of a INTERPOL forensic report. It stated Colombia did not modified the laptop but it could not tell from where it got it from.
There is a new enthusiasm over the prompt release of FARC hostages. A former Colombian hostage released after Chavez mediation, Luis Eladio Peres, said today that some hostages are already on their way to freedom. First, civil hostages would be released; then, Colombian military and police hostage would take their turn. Finally, the three American hostages would be released, he added.
