Father and daughter die in Turkish holiday water fight

"Screams of changed to screams of pain" in Turkey yesterday when a father and daughter were flung from their jeep during a vehicle-assisted watergun fight. Perhaps mixing automobiles with a water fight isn't the best idea.

A young girl and her father were killed in a horrific safari crash when their driver was splashed in the eyes during a water fight.

Charley Pearce, eight, and Jonothan, 38, were flung from the open-topped jeep after it smashed into a tractor loaded with bricks.

Her cousin Joseph, also eight, suffered severe head injuries and was last night fighting for life in a Turkish hospital.

Moments before the crash, a passing biker apparently tried to join in the water fight.

But he accidentally blinded the young driver who could not see the broken-down tractor.

A witness travelling in the same convoy sobbed: "It was dreadful. One minute they were laughing and squirting each other with water pistols.

"The driver was hit with water which temporarily blinded him.

"He swerved to avoid the tractor but the back of the jeep took the full impact of the crash.

"No-one was wearing seat belts - in fact they were standing up in the jeep, having a whale of a time. I saw them flung into the road and screams of laughter changed to screams of pain.

Dave Keating, I like this story. It's good stuff. horrible indeed, but a lesson for those who behave recklessly in moving vehicles.
