Fazul Abdullah Muhammad: al-Qaeda East Africa Chief Killed in Mogadishu

According to the Somali National Security Agency, Fazul Abdullah Muhammad, al-Qaeda's East Africa Chief, has been killed. Fazul Abdullah Muhammad was accused of masterminding the 1998 embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania which killed 224 people.

US officials say that they believe Fazul Abdullah Muhammad is indeed dead, shot along with a Kenyan militant named Mohammed Dere, by TFG (Transitional Federal Government) forces when they refused to stop at a roadblock along the Afgooye corridor, which leads into Mogadishu.

Fazul Abdullah Muhammad and Mohammed Dere were driving a pickup truck carrying medical supplies, electronics, and a large amount of cash.
