NP Rank:
Feminism is evil (some say)

I don't even know where to start with this, truly. It's both laughable and horrific. Of course the presentation of the 'material' on the site is dreadful, and at first I thought it was a joke, but I fear it is not.
I'm not going to sugarcoat this article in an attempt not to offend anyone. Feminism is rebellion against God's AUTHORITY! I don't know where the term "feminazi" originated, but it accurately describes the Feminist Movement. So many pastors today are afraid to preach against the evils of feminism. The truth needs to be upheld!
America's churches, marriages, and homes are being destroyed by the vile feminist agenda. Women are now filing for divorce at TWICE the rate of men because of feminism. A godly man is a threat to the feminist's agenda, because he believes that a woman's place is still in the home, baking cookies, knitting, and caring for the children (1st Timothy 5:14). Of course, hen pecked husbands and sissies are exempt.A woman's place is still in the home....
Erm, ok.
Husbands are Biblically to Rule over their Wives; Wives are to obey!
God has ordained that the man is to be the head of the household. The wife is to SUBMIT to her own husband...
If all this is true, I'm [quite happily] going straight to hell!
Visit the original site, if you can stomach it! It makes me laugh and cry at the same time.

I think your quoted source is a garbage site and I'm a little surprised that someone of your intelligence would even bother, I visited the first page, as it were, but went no further because I can imagine the trash I would find. Mostly likely those people are beyond redemption?
at 03:51 on August 15th, 2008
I confess that I'm not sure what you mean by 'garbage'. Do you mean that what's on that site is rubbish, or that it's a spoof site?
If it's the first, then, yes, it is garbage. But, nonsense as it is, there are many, many people who believe what's written on those pages. And such beliefs provide we feminists with even more to fight against.
If it's the second, then I'm not so sure. My first instinct was that the site was a spoof, but then I realised, as I said above, that many people do hold those views.
Thank you for the compliment on my intelligence. Regarding why I 'bothered': I think we shouldn't just ignore what we disagree with or find ridiculous. In fact, had feminism been ignored by everyone who thought it ridiculous all those years ago, we may not be where we are today. Just a thought...

Yes, I think the site and probably its contents which I didn't read but have read many like this in the past so I have a good idea of what they'll say. I wish in someway it was a spoof site but I think its probably what those people believe. I have supported feminism since the 1970's including the printing of many street mags of some of those first days of the current modern day feminism period. I ran a free community print shop when I lived in Nottinghill Gate. I also printed for gays, the environment and many others. I'm male if you haven't already realized. Its a sick site with sick people who are probably beyond redemption, some people just can't be saved. There are broader issues which need to be battled. I'm sure my comment won't be enough....

Smiley, it's a disgusting site, with disgusting views, and I'm very sorry to have come across it at all. But it's often good to have a reminder about what we're up against!
Keep up the good work!

It may mean that they are just typical guys who only feel safe expressing anger ...
at 04:22 on August 15th, 2008
You might be right, Emilio. Although they're not like any 'typical' guys I know!
I have a feeling that it's the work of a rather more serious religious group, though.

It may be upsetting to yourself and maybe even me too, but why worry about it ? I think there's a lot more dangerous folks out there than the people who run that site ...
Take Mr. Bush for instance ... ha ha - ok, I shut up now ...
at 04:36 on August 15th, 2008
Yes, but see below. And it's not 'upsetting' to me (that's quite minimising, I have to say) - I think its intent for women is dangerous.

I think they may be "a typical" rather than typical guys because I don't know any guys like that but then I don't drink in "red-neck" bars.

Well ...
People are pretty much allowed to put up any kind of site that suits their fancy - you know, anti-this, pro-that, everything-goes - within certain pretty wide limits here in the west we can post what we want ...
These are stressful times and everybody reacts a little differently - what can you say?
Such sites will be magnets for anybody who is on the same wavelength - so what ?
at 04:29 on August 15th, 2008
Well, I agree with you to some extent. (Of course, the OP was not about anyone's rights or lack thereof to use the Internet as they wish.) But such sites hold a different connotation for me, as a feminist. For example, they perpetuate extreme and damaging views about women, they call for the global suppression of women, and they use a very powerful (and to some, frightening) tool - religion - to spread hatred. So for me, it's not just about like-minded people flocking together on a website - it's about a much more menacing and pervasive influence.

generaldecay, I like this story. It's good stuff. Although this site is laughable, it does reflect the huge groups that actually believe this kind of stuff. The fight for women's equality and equal respect may never be over, sad to say.

Pep, thank you. And, no, it will never be over. I'm flippin' exhausted by it sometimes. But we have to keep going!

I still recall two different categories in the newspaper for job listings: Jobs for Men, Jobs for Women. The first category, of course, had professional and managerial listings. For women? Receptionists, secretaries, nightclub dancers, nurses, teachers (elementary best, of course, as then kids "outgrow" women's capabilities!), waitresses.
So now, thanks to that era's wave of feminism, that's no longer legal or acceptable. But the prejudice is still there, and the attitudes have just gone "underground", to be far more subtle.
They're just as recognizable, though.
The thing that's driven me nuts is when I hear younger women, who grew up accepting as "normal" that they could be a lawyer, doctor, astronaut, whatever, putting feminism down. They want to reap the benefits without understanding that the women who knocked those barriers down often paid enormous prices. No, they say, they want to be a corporate lawyer, or maybe someday a judge, but God knows they can't stand feminists! aaargh.

Ah, there it is! I knew I had an important comment from you to seek out and respond to!
Well, yes, really. I'm not sure if women now disregard feminism because they don't understand what it achieved (and think that things would have changed with time anyway) or if they are somehow unwilling to be 'tarred with the same brush'. Feminists aren't popular, in the main, and I think too many people still think that the entire movement was only about burning your bra or something like that. :/
