Fergus & Phoebe Conway and Azra Young: 3 Children Die in BC Fire
Fergus Conway, 14, Phoebe Conway, 10, and their cousin Azra Young, 14, died in a cabin fire in Eagle Bay at Shuswap Lake the morning of Thursday, July 23.
Neighbour Ken Clough reported witnessing flames 200 feet in the air, which took firefighters approximately three hours to extinguish. The cedar shake cabin, a summer home in the family for four generations, was completely destroyed.
"Those flames were 200 feet in their air," said Clough, 65, who said the father of one of the children was on the ground, pounding his fist into the grass, while his wife stood immobilized by shock.
Young's parents, Kim Collier and Jonathan Young of Vancouver's Electric Company Theatre, were sleeping in the main cabin next door, which was unharmed by the fire. Collier sustained minor injuries from trying to save her daughter, niece, and nephew from their cabin.
All three children were from Vancouver, BC, with family roots in Kamloops.
The cause of fire is unknown and being investigated, but foul play is not suspected.

I only met Phoebe during the performances of the Nutcraker. She was a STAR as The Mouse. I also saw her during an open house and thought she was an Amazing Ballerina.
