TEN young lawyers who recently graduated from Carabobo University in Venezuela had a three hours meeting with Fidel Castro in Havana, on August 22.
The Cuban leader , wearing sport garments, was very active and talkative during the meeting, and a footage was aired by Cuban TV this Sunday. (http://www.cubadebate.cu/). He was not seen in media appeareances for 14 months, although he keeps a regular written column in a website and newspapers of the Island.
On behalf of the Cuban people, Fidel thanked the Venezuelan young lawyers for their gesture (naming their graduation "Fidel Castro", which he interpreted as a recognition for the work of the Revolution.
Fidel talked about several issues, particularly his concerns about climate change, the UN Secretary Banki Moon's statements recently and the real threats to little islands.
Last week-end, Fidel Castro was also seen in good condition during a meeting with
Rafael Correa, president of Ecuator, who visited Havana for four days.
MARADONA WANTS HUG
By the other hand, famous Argentinean football player Diego Armando Maradona said to a newspaper in his country that he would like to go by Cuba to hug Fidel.
Fidel Castro was the personality that more impressed me, without any doubt. “I would like to go by Cuba to give him a hug.” The comment appears today in the sport newspaper "Cancha Llena", from Buenos Aires.
At present, Maradona is the Technical Director of national football team of Argentina and in the next eliminatories they hope to defeat Brazil team. The boys are sharp”.

Puff piece for a dictator, JAMP.
I would like to see a critical piece about Castro posted from Havana, Cuba, not necessarily from you, but from anyone, just so we can see it being done without repercussions.
In other words, where are the Cuban dissidents, the voice of the opposition?

Carabobo means stupid face, very appropriated name for a University that receives this dictator. Lawyers? Bad curriculum I think.

I am glad he is recovering some and I wish him no harm but Castro has been a disaster for Cuba.
Cuba will not prosper until both Castros are out of government.

To actually see Fidel congratulating the younger generation is marvelous, Is there a Law school in Cuba and do the common Cuban people have the same opportunity that those young lawyers do ? He looks in good health too. To hear him speak of Copenhagen and the upcoming summit makes me curious. Are the Cuban people aware of such Worldly topics or are they even allowed to view and or read of such things. Or is Fidel being a hypocrate ?
