Fidel Ramos, Former President of the Philippines Visits Virginia

The former president of the Philippines, Fidel V. Ramos, visited the Hampton Roads area of Virginia last week.  On May 14, 2009 he arrived at the Norfolk Virginia airport, and was immediately shuttled to Kapamilya Restaurant where he was guest of honor at a reception in Virginia Beach.  He spoke for about an hour on the close ties that exist between the Philippines and the United States.  He told the assembled group about his tour in the military as a young man.  He had visited Norfolk, Virginia in the military in 1948.  Everyone in the Filipino-American community was proud to have him come to speak.  The President was patient to pose for numerous pictures.
