The President is keeping his promise, albeit a little late. We’re leaving Iraq because staying there is too costly and we don’t get a high return on cost.
Iraq is a sovereign nation that must manage on its own. If Turkey or Iran interfere, it will be up to NATO to address that with our support but not leading.
“U.S. troops to leave Iraq by end of year
The Obama administration has decided to withdraw U.S. forces from Iraq by the end of the year after failing to reach an agreement with the Iraqi government that would have left several thousand troops there for special operations and training.
President Obama and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki spoke Friday morning to cement that agreement in a scheduled telephone call, according to people familiar with the agreement.

I don't understand why everyone said "Obama kept his promise". The Us-Iraq security agreement was signed in Nov of 2008, before Obama took office. In that document, the US and Iraq agreed that every single troop would leave by Jan 1, 2011. So, all Obama did was abide by a treaty? This is another example of how Obama has done nothing, yet gets credit for doing something anyway.
