"Good" old times are back. During the cold war Finlad was a busy place for spies from both side. I just wonder, if Finland is that important and suitable today as it was 20 years ago. Or is it just old habit, or is the infrastructure for spying still the most suitable here.
Surveillance experts in Finland, including the Finnish Security Police, say Russia has markedly expanded its surveillance activities in Finland over the past years.
A doctoral dissertation by Pekka Iivari finds that Finland is currently a focal point of eastern surveillance activities. Outgoing Russian President Vladimir Putin has over time reinstated the powers of the country's espionage machinery. Russia has boosted funding earmarked for surveillance at an annual rate of nearly 30 percent.
