THE annual Finnish chruch Bazaar in London got under way this weekend with queues stretching down the road. Last year, record numbers passed through the now well-known event, once a well-kept secret of the 6,000 strong Finnish community in Britain.
Annual event selling craftwork, Christmas decorations, reindeer skins and glögi (mulled wine) spices, plus an on-site restaurant and bakery where you can sample Finnish specialities such as gingerbread, rye bread, salmiakki (salty liquorish), reindeer and muikkuja (barbecued whitefish). You can meet Father Christmas and the church also houses a year-round mini supermarket and sauna, catering for those who get a taste for the finer Finnish things in life.
